Michelle Lawrence

I am a Kamilaroi woman born at the notorious crown St Hospital in Surry Hills, NSW. My journey into this world was not easy, family violence in the womb, I left home at 12 and was raised by my sister. I always believed this was not my journey and every day I work towards breaking cycles.

My greatest achievement is my children, I have 3 but my daughter passed at birth which brought on PTSD. Thankfully, I was supported by an amazing organisation called Sid’s and kids, this is where I started to volunteer and help other families.

My passion is seeing people thrive and not just survive.

I have worked towards building an amazing journey for me inspired by my consumers who are the real strength of this nation. My dream is to return to rural and remote communities to listen and support the knowledge holders, as they hold the answers.

I believe with the right support you can achieve anything your heart desires, and to help others is my calling. I hope to one day become a psychologist and follow the work of my mentors in continuing to close the gap.
